13:30 TROPICAL STORM ERIKA UPDATE
Tropical Storm Erika has started to dissipate over Cuba. All Tropical Watches and Warnings have been discontinued.
Tropical Storm Erika is expected to make a landfall in eastern Cuba some time this morning. It brings along heavy rain and gusty winds which will continue throughout the day. The winds will lose some strength as they move into the central regions, but they will still be strong.
In the West, however, it will be typical summery day with occasional clouds and sporadic rain.
Despite the storm, the temperature will still be hot, in the 30sC (90sF).
As expected, the tidal waves will hit the coast causing some local flooding. The winds will reach a maximum speed of 85 km/h (52 mph) as the storm makes a landfall, but are expected to lose some speed as Erika moves into the central parts.
