HURRICANE JOAQUIN UPDATE - No need to get worried too much about this storm, although it is running pretty close to Cuba. It has strengthen overnight and became category 4 hurricane, but the eye of the storm is quite far from northern coast and it is moving further up. Nevertheless, some winds and rain will be felt, especially in the north-central parts but they won’t be so strong and they will diminish gradually as Joaquin moves north. From the afternoon , the weather conditions should go back to normal.
It will be mostly overcast throughout the day in whole of the country. Particularly strong rain is expected in mountainous areas of Central Cuba. It won’t affect the temperatures which will still be quite hot, up to 32C (90F), dropping down to 23C (73F) at night. The proximity of hurricane Joaquin, which is running close to Cuba, but won’t hit it, affects the wind conditions – they will be moderately strong reaching speed of 45 kmph (30mph). They will cause some unrest of the sea, especially in the eastern coast, while in the west and south-central parts the sea will be calm.
